DuBois Man Arrested for Causing Life-Threatening Injuries to Infant Daughter
A DuBois man has been arrested for seriously injuring his 4-month-old infant daughter, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced Monday.
According to investigators, Dean Sulin's daughter was taken to Penn Highlands hospital in DuBois on January 31, 2018. She was later flown to UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh where she was found to have life-threatening injuries including a bilateral subdural hematoma, retinal hemorrhages and extensive bruising.
The case was referred to the Office of Attorney General in August 2020.
Physicians taking care of the child determined her injuries were the result of abusive head trauma. Investigators say the injuries were inflicted by the child's father, who was home with his daughter that day. After further examination, it was determined the child had both new and old injuries.
Witnesses from Sulin's family told investigators they had seen him pick up his daughter and shake her violently while screaming expletives.
Sulin has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
