North East's Isaiah Swan Wins Boys Golf State Championship, Sister Lydia Takes Bronze
It took 19 holes to decide the Boy's 2A State Champion. On the first playoff hole, North East senior Isaiah Swan sunk his birdie putt to win the state championship.
Swan had to wait and watch in the clubhouse after carding a two-under 69. Scranton Prep's Matthew Tressler took a one-stroke lead on the 17th hole. He finished his round on the 9th hole with a bogey leaving him tied with Swan at -2.
The two started the playoff on the 18th hole of York Heritage Hills Golf Resort. Swan sunk a 30-foot birdie putt on the par-four 18th green to clinch the state championship.
Sister Lydia Swan secured a bronze medal by finishing third in the girl's 2A classification. She shot a six-over par 78 in her attempt to repeat as state champion.
On Tuesday, the boys and girls 3A Championships will conclude the individual rounds. The first group will tee off at 8:30 a.m.
