The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting 7,166 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases statewide in the last 24 hours, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 761,777 cases as of Saturday.
The state is reporting 231 new coronavirus-related deaths Saturday, raising the total to 19,188.
Approximately 76 percent of cases have recovered. 3,455,231 patients have tested negative for coronavirus with 14,737 more negatives Saturday.
There are 4,848 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, near double the peak in the spring. Of that number, 1,010 are in the intensive care unit. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 4,800 since the end of September.
Statewide percent positivity for the week of January 1 – January 7 stood at 14.4%.
Through Jan. 15, 427,713 doses of the vaccine have been administered. This does include vaccine administration through the CVS as part of the Federal Pharmacy Partnership.
307,915 people have received one dose (partially covered), and 59,899 have received two doses (fully covered).
Erie County saw 178 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the county's total number of cases to 14,009 as of Saturday.
The county reported 12 new deaths Friday, increasing the total to 332. The state is reporting four new deaths Saturday, increasing the total to 295. The county and state use different data sources for deaths, causing the discrepancy.
61 (-6) patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 with 35 (+0) adult patients in the ICU. 8 (+1) are on ventilators. 40 (+2) out of 193 (+0) total ventilators are in use.
Crawford County's cases increased by 30 to 5,539. Two new deaths were reported in the county Saturday, increasing the total to 111.
26 (-3) patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 with six (-1) adult patients in the ICU. Four (+0) are on a ventilator. Five (+0) out of 24 available ventilators are now in use.
Warren County saw six new cases, raising its total to 1,845. One new death was reported Saturday, raising the total to 69.
25 (+0) patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 with no (+0) adult patients in the ICU and none (+0) on ventilators. None (+0) of 12 total ventilators are in use.
