It may be cold outside but that's perfect conditions for a weekend full of hockey.
It's a busy time at the ErieBank Sports Park as teams from around the region spend the weekend competing.
The Sarah Backstrom Memorial Hockey Tournament welcomes young girls to high school students to play against one another across the four day tournament.
It's in honor of Sarah Backstrom, a local hockey player who died of leukemia several years ago.
In the past years, the tournament would have up to 80 teams but in recent years their numbers have changed.
Jason Fowler, the owner of Lake Effect Hockey, said "Three years ago with 17 teams and last year 34 and this year due to Covid we anticipated much less participation however we are at 48 teams this year".
The tournament runs through Monday at the ErieBank Sports Park.
