As Pennsylvania health officials push to get all state residents in phase 1-A signed up for vaccines by the end of March, UPMC Hamot and AHN Saint Vincent have been selected to receive consistent, significant supplies of vaccines over the next month.
Both hospital systems were informed this morning that they will be receiving two full trays of Pfizer vaccine each week for first dose vaccines, beginning this week.
That amounts to about 2,300 doses.
UPMC Hamot said it is equipped to ramp up its vaccine operation at their com center on the Bayfront Parkway, to get those many first doses out each week. Right now they administer Tuesday through Friday from 7 am to 5 pm, but they may consider adding Sunday, Monday and Saturday vaccine days to the operation.
AHN Saint Vincent President Dr. Christopher Clark said his hospital system is now planning the best ways to push out that many doses each week. They will begin with another mass clinic and Erie Insurance Arena from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Friday.
The Friday mass clinic will be by appointment only. Sign ups are not open yet, but will be handled in the same way as previous signs ups through MyChart, AHN.org, or 814-CONNECT. Do Not Call the hospital.
