The new President of Whippy Dip II, Brian Huya, hopes to open the new store by May 15th.
His Father, Leonard Huya has owned and operated the original Whippy Dip on West 26th Street for the last 12 years.
For the last few years, Leonard Huya has thought about expanding his business. He told Erie News Now, "the idea was always on the back burner. We have more parking here, a bigger area, it's just a good location."
Brian Huya spent the last 12 years working in Florida, and saw the success the West 26th Street was having. That's when he wanted to get involved in the business.
He said the new store will continue to have some of the old favorites. "We will serve soft ice cream and offer hard ice cream as well."
