The Erie Institute of Technology was busy on Saturday with a welding competition.

They held a weld-off for welders young and old.

There was a series of competitions and tasks they had to complete.

It was a way for them to show off their skills, learn from others and enjoy some friendly competition.

The program director, Doug Jordan described the event.

"You can have a bunch of certifications, but everyone is going to ask you to throw them down and see what you can do. It's such a nice environment, this is like applying for a job, show me what you can do on the clock.  If you notice all the competitors have a serious look on their face right now, that will all settle in, in a little bit, but you do nothing but gain experience and taking tests which is huge," said Jordan.
