Collegiate Academy Celebrates Class of 2021

It's high school graduation season and Collegiate Academy was one of many schools celebrating the Class of 2021.

Hundreds of young men and women entered Veterans Memorial Stadium as students, but left as alumni of Collegiate Academy.
Caleb Balzer, a graduate said, "It's strange, a little surreal also, to know that this is the moment, I feel like I'm in TV show and I'm with my friends and it's a season finale type thing."

Graduates were thrilled they were able to graduate in person along side their classmates and their families watching. While Collegiate Academy couldn't have asked for a better day for graduation, the planning to make sure all this came together in time started months ago in January.

Jim Viera, the Dean of Collegiate Academy said the plans kept changing due to Covid restriction, but he was happy with the end result.

"Today, we are all here three feet a part, six tickets or more so it's all going to be great", explained Viera.

Viera said this graduation is extra special because these students endured so much in and out of the classroom with the pandemic.
"As always with our graduates we are proud, but even more so this year because of the perseverance and they stuck with everything and with all the hard work and it will be pay and it did pay off today", explained Viera.

What's student's biggest takeaway from today?
"To know that we are all in this together and we are about to send an entire class of people of the future into the world, it's very exciting" said Balzer.

In years past, graduation was always held at Veterans Memorial Stadium, so it was a special throwback for graduation to be held there this year.
