Overnight Crash in West Springfield Takes out Utility Pole, Brings Down Wires

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an early morning car crash in western Erie County.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday on Ridge Rd. near Scott Rd. in West Springfield.

A car hit and took out a utility pole, bringing down wires across the roadway.

It's unclear what caused the crash, but it does not appear the driver was badly injured.

State Police reportedly picked up the man who was behind the wheel a short distance from the crash scene.

There is no word on how many homes lost power, but Penelec was called in.

Troopers have been working to reopen that stretch of Ridge Rd. to traffic.
