Jack Frost Donuts in Erie has temporarily closed due to the lack of employees, the business announced last week on Facebook.

The locally owned donut shop, which is located on Buffalo Rd. near Franklin Ave., said it closed for three weeks and plans to reopen after the Labor Day holiday.

"Unfortunately, Covid has made it impossible for this small business to hire employees," said the Facebook post. "No one we have met wants or needs a job--at least not at a small donut shop. We've hung on these past 17 months thanks to amazing family members who have filled every role we couldn't hire--but now those family members are off to college, returning to school and/or need a vacation. If only making fresh, delicious donuts was a one-woman operation."

Jack Frost was established in 1929 and has been under new management and ownership since the start of 2015, according to its Facebook page.
