The Damage from Hitting a Snow Mound

If you have gotten stuck on a snow mound recently, what should you be doing?

The folks at Nolan's Auto Service on Pine Avenue say while you might have gotten unstuck, you could of done some major damage to your car.

Some damages might be noticeable but others could be underneath the vehicle and difficult to see.

"People get stuck, you can do body damage or you can damage stuff underneath," says Owner Robert Nolan. "A lot of cars now have engine covers underneath that get ripped off or the bumper covers that are on there are not on the the greatest, they will get ripped off and can mess a car up pretty good."

Nolan tells Erie News Now it's not only an inconvenience but, could cost a lot depending on the damage that is done.

"It's kind of like driving through a puddle of water, you don't know how deep it is," says Nolan. "If its a snow mound, you don't know what's underneath it or how deep the snow mound is when your in the car, so it can cost you hundreds to thousands of dollars if you damage your car just right."

Nolan says if you end up having damage done to your car from a snow mound, it could take some time to get the parts in to fix your vehicle.

"For the most part we are getting everything but, it's taking a lot longer to get them even just because of the weather, getting parts delivered, getting the car so you can work on it sometimes takes hours to get the snow off of it and get it so you can see what you are doing," says Nolan.
