Students at Mercyhurst University now have one more affordable option to get around town.
The university's student government has partnered up with Uber to offer rides at a discounted rate.
MSG has reserved $2,000 a month with a total of 400 rides for students. Students will use the Uber app to order a ride and will receive $5 off one ride per day.
The usual late-night bus service that was previously offered to students on the weekends is not available due to COVID purposes, leading to safety concerns as students have been walking from downtown Erie at night back to campus.
Mercyhurst University is hoping the Uber discount will help students have safer transportation methods.
