A total of 11 homes have been added to the city's blighted property list.
There are currently 192 blighted properties scattered throughout the city.
Not only are these homes eyesores, but they can also drag the surrounding properties value down by nearly 40%, so mayor Joe Schember's administration has proposed spending $15 million in ARP funding on housing related programs.
The plan is broken into eight categories, but homeowners and landlords can apply for grants to restore their rundown properties.
"I think it's very necessary," said city demolition coordinator Mike Lavery. "You have to start somewhere, and if we can take one house down that's a potential hazard, it's a stepping stone to move and more beautifying the neighborhood."
The city is currently on an agreement with the redevelopment authority, so applications are not being accepted just yet.
