Local business leaders got the chance to learn more about shipping and trade, especially important topics after the supply chain struggles of the last three years.

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development hosted a meeting on Monday, at the Ambassador Center.

They welcomed business leaders, who had the opportunity to speak with the state's trade representatives from a dozen nations.

As shipping advances made trade easier, these types of meetings help the region stay competitive in a global economy.

"Well, it's been great. We've been able to meet with a lot of the representatives from various countries, and you know, being a small company, a startup in Erie, having the resources to go identify both partners and customers as countries is challenging," said Carl Nicosia, President of PC Energy. "So, getting the support from the state is really, really been helpful."

Monday's meeting is 1 of 10 listening sessions being hosted around the commonwealth, helping businesses grow through trade.
