Family of Alyssa Hall Demands Changes After Teen's Fatal Accident

The family of Alyssa Hall, the McDowell High School Junior who was killed following a traffic accident on Monday, is demanding changes to make roads safer for students.

Hall was struck by a car Monday morning on Zuck Rd. in Millcreek while crossing the street to catch her school bus. By Wednesday night, Hall had died at the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

"There needs to be a better pick up and drop off procedure, such no child ever has to worry about this repeating," said Sammy Anderson, Hall's cousin. "It is deeply sad that this had to happen to our family member for action to be finally taken."

Millcreek Township School District says they have already begun taking steps towards increasing the safety of their bus routes.

Hall's family also called on PennDOT, and Millcreek Township to reduce the speed on Zuck Rd.

"There's a short period on on Zuck [Road] that's 45 [mph], and the rest is 35 [mph]," continued Anderson. "That is way too way too fast, especially for road where there's children to be picked up on."

Hall's family will be holding a memorial service for her at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 17th, at 5125 Zuck Rd., near the scene of her accident.

Those attending are encouraged to wear bright colors to honor Hall's memory, as she was never one to wear black.
