Pennsylvania State Police arrested a man for arson at the Giant Eagle in Harborcreek late Sunday night.
Troopers were called just before 11 p.m. to the store on Buffalo Rd. for a man who set a propane storage cage on fire.
Investigators said interviews revealed the 44-year-old Erie man started the fire in hopes of harming himself.
Witnesses told state police he was standing in front of the cage while it was on fire and took off after being told police were responding
He was taken into custody in front of a nearby business as troopers arrived at the store.
The store was occupied at the time, and firefighters came to put out the fire, according to troopers.
The man was taken to the Erie County Prison to await arraignment on arson-related charges, recklessly endangering another person, risking a catastrophe and possession of instruments of cime.
