City of Erie's Plans for Pride Month
The first of June officially kicks off Pride Month, when the LGBTQ+ community gets to show off their true colors.
Earlier this year, Erie announced that it achieved a perfect score in the Municipal Quality Index for 2022, which rates how good a city is for the LGBTQ+ community.
Mayor Joe Schember says they're hoping to keep that score high with events such as the Pride Parade near the end of June.
"We're all human beings. We're all people. We're all very much alike. The fact that we have a different gender, a different race, or a different sexual orientation, it doesn't really matter," said Mayor Schember. "Let's just accept everybody. And we hope this June to make good progress in having that done for the LGBTQ+ community."
The Pride Parade will take place on Saturday, June 24th, starting at the corner of 11th and State at 11 a.m.
