Scallywags Hosts Bar Crawl on Erie's Bayfront

Saturday was the first-ever Scallywags Bar Crawl along the Erie bayfront.

The pirate ship, most known for entertaining families, was on a different mission.

In two separate sessions, people starting at 4 p.m. were encouraged to dress up as pirates and then embark on 40-minute bar stops at Rum Runners, Woody's, the Cove and Flip Flops.

At the end of the crawl, they enjoyed the adult Wobbly Pirate Cruise aboard Scallywags.

Ten percent of all proceeds will benefit Early Connections, which provides quality programs in early child care and education.

"We've never had anything like this," said Isabella Stefanelli, organizer. "We're really inspired by the people down south who do the conventions down there - Gasparilla. We wanted to recreate something like that here and bring something new to Erie down here."

They already plan to do the Scallywags Bar Crawl next year and make the event even bigger.
