Program Allows Erie County Homeowners to Apply for Grants to Make Repairs

The Pennsylvania whole-home repairs program has launched in Erie County, allowing eligible homeowners and small landlords to apply for grants to make repairs to their properties, the county announced Monday.

Up to $50,000 per unit is available for homeowners to make repairs and small landlords to support upkeep and weatherization.

The money can be used for severe housing repair needs such as roof damage, unsafe electric wiring, window repairs and replacement, foundation repairs or accessibility concerns.

Pennsylvania homeowners whose household income does not exceed 80 percent of the area median income are eligible for grants. Small landlords who own no more than five properties and no more than 15 rental units of affordable housing can qualify for loans.

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) is providing more than $2.5 million in COVID-19 American Rescue Plan Act money to Erie County as part of the program.

The City of Erie Redevelopment Authority and the Corry Redevelopment Authority will be administering the program in Erie County.
