During the North East Township and North East Borough council meeting on Monday night, board members voted to move forward with a public hearing on the potential creation of the North East Marina Authority.

This progress comes after the appointed board member went over new findings concerning what finances might look like for keeping up the marina, and public discussion took place about liability, making sure the township and its residents won't be hurt if the project doesn't pan out.

"Those of involved in the initiative, that's led by Rep. Jake Banta, to save the North East Marina understood the supervisors had to get to a point they felt comfortable, that they understood the Municipality Authority Act, and that a authority created to preserve the marina would not create any liability," said Dan Adamus, North East.
