A man faces felony charges for stealing more than $8,000 from North East Football Foundation, according to court records.
Christopher Galloway, 41, of North East, was arraigned Saturday on charges of theft by failing to make required disposition of funds and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities.
The investigation started after another member of the football foundation requested money for a banquet and was told there was not enough money in the bank accounts, the criminal complaint said.
The bank account and statements were checked, and $8,632.58 worth of transactions that did not apply to the foundation were discovered including numerous charges from outside the football season, according to investigators. They included purchases from Old Navy, Burlington Coat Factory, multiple bars, Draft Kings, wrestling gear, hotels in different states, car maintenance, hearing bills, StubHub, car insurance and waste removal companies, police said.
Galloway originally admitted to taking approximately $600 and later admitted to making the other fraudulent charges, saying he fell behind on his bills, according to the criminal complaint.
He is scheduled to appear before a district judge for his preliminary hearing March 28.
