VisitErie has launched its latest mobile app challenge, Unlock Erie. The goal of the new initiative is to encourage visitors to download VisitErie's free Hello Erie mobile app while exploring the region for a chance to win prizes. 

VisitErie's new mobile app challenge is a multi-tiered challenge featuring more than 75 Erie County tourism-related businesses including attractions, restaurants and retailers. 

The challenge offers flexibility to visitors and residents alike as there's no completion deadline. Participants can complete the first tier in one visit and work towards complete tiers two and three over multiple visits. 

Tiers can be accessed anytime, but check-ins for one tier only county toward that specific tier. To complete each tier, participants must check in at a minimum number of places. 

Once a tier is completed, participants will receive a completion badge which can be turned in for a prize. 

The three Unlock Erie tiers are: 

  • Apprentice: check-in to at least seven locations, Prize: Unlock Erie deck of cards
  • Locksmith: check-in to at least 12 locations, Prize: Unlock Erie roll-up blanket
  • Keymaster: check-in to at least 16 locations, Prize: Unlock Erie cooler/backpack
