The Rotary Club of Erie will host its annual Scholarship Award Ceremony on Wednesday, May 21 at the Erie Bayfront Sheraton Hotel. 

The Rotary Foundation has been awarding scholarships to deserving high school seniors to help with their expenses for post secondary education since 1954. 

Students were asked to write an essay on a time when they put other's needs above their own interest when applying for a scholarship through the rotary foundation. The essay topic embodies the Rotary motto: "Service Above Self".

Applications and essays are evaluated by Rotarians. Scholarships are awarded based on grades, community service, financial need, and their account of providing service above self. 

Each selected student will receive a $3,000 scholarship. 

Scholarships will be awarded to three Erie High School students and two Collegiate Academy students.
