The first officer of the month for 2011, is a Lieutenant with the Erie International Airport Police Department.
District Attorney Jack Daneri honors Lt. Jason Morell as January's officer of the month.
He's worked for the Erie Airport Police Department for 10 years.
And he works with his partner, Rocky, a bomb-sniffing dog.
The Chief describes him as a role model, a well-rounded officer, who's very deserving of this award.
"it's an honor to be selected officer of the month. Working here at the airport police department, and with the bomb dog here, it's given me the opportunity to not only meet a bunch of fine officers within the department, but throughout the entire region." Said Lt. Morrell.

"I'm absolutely thrilled. It's been a pleasure working with Jason here at the airport for quite a few years now. And the rest of Erie county is finding out that he is the officer of the month this month in January, and he's getting the recognition that he deserves." Said Executive Director of Erie International Airport, Chris Rodgers.

"The airport security is extremely important, and Jason's work not only protects the Erie community day to day, but it's also far-reaching because he has to make sure that the airport is safe and travelers are safe." Said Daneri.
