It appears the new Summit Township building will cost less than anticipated.
Supervisors closed the current township building on Old French Road last year because many employees were getting sick. Tests revealed extensive mold in the building. Since then, employees have been working in a leased building.
Meantime, land has been cleared to construct a new township building on Townhall Road. Now it appears that work could start soon.
The lowest of 5 general contracting bids opened today was about $5.2 million. That is less than projected.
Supervisors will now review the bid. A contract could be awarded at their next meeting.
