January Officer Of The Month

A veteran Erie police detective is recognized as Erie county officer of the month.

She's Detective Sergeant Julie Kemling.

She's been on the Erie police force for 20 years, a detective for the past 12.

She investigates everything from retail thefts, to homicides.

Most recently, she played a key role in getting 31 year old Rachel Kozloff convicted of murder, for the shooting death of her boyfriend.

"I'm very fortunate that I have the opportunity to work in a field that I'm trained in. I work with a lot of people who bring to the table different aspects of the job." Said Sgt. Kemling.

"Her efforts are recognized, by conviction after conviction going through the court system. Her peers recognize her hard work and dedication and we're glad to be here to honor her today." Said Erie Police Captain Frank Kwitowski.

"Number one she's accessible, number two her reports are great, number 3 if we have a question she answers it, number 4 if we need her to do more work she did it, and she does it fast." Said Assistant District Attorney Bob Sambroak.
