It was a big celebration on Friday, at the Wegmans location on Peach Street, as the store celebrated 20 years in Erie.

Employees kicked off festivities with a buffet, and customers enjoyed free cake, and food samples from several local Erie companies.

The Wegmans on Peach Street was the first in Pennsylvania, and now it's one of two in Erie County.

Wegmans spokesperson Theresa Jackson said they have the customers to thank for their continued success.

A party at the store Friday morning recognized 45 employees who have been with the company all 20 years.

"This is a really huge day for the Erie Wegmans store," said Jackson, "they're celebrating 45 employees that have worked for the company for 20 years, and still have stayed with the company that long. That's our biggest celebration today."
