Millcreek Man Charged With Assaulting Boys, Was Their Scout Leader
More on a story we first brought you Monday night, police say the Millcreek man, charged with sexually assaulting two teen boys, was their boy scout leader.
51-year-old Timothy McFarland is facing charges of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors.
He's facing 2 counts of each for allegedly assaulting two boys, under the age of 13, while he was their assistant scout leader.
According to the criminal complaint, the assaults happened between 2011 and 2013, while the boys were at McFarland's Millcreek township home.
Police say McFarland would encourage the boys to take off their clothes, encouraged them to look at a pornographic magazine and inappropriate movies or websites. Investigators say he also touched them inappropriately.
McFarland is free after posting $1,000 dollars bond.
We contacted the French Creek Council of the Boy Scouts of America for comment. Directors tell us the safety of their youth is their top priority. So, as soon as they learned of the accusations, Mr. McFarland was removed from the scouting program.
