An official ground breaking ceremony for a small, boutique-style hotel on Erie's bayfront, takes place Thursday morning.

The Bayfront Cobblestone Inn & Suites will have a total of 54 rooms.

Those rooms will go for about $100 a night; that's an average of about $80 cheaper than a room at the Bayfront Sheraton Hotel costs.

While the Cobblestone Bayfront Inn & Suites is quickly becoming a reality, there is also another proposed hotel to go along Erie's bayfront.

Back in August, City Council approved a second hotel to be built by the Convention Center.  That hotel would be attached to the Convention Center, at the Sassafras Pier.

And yet another hotel, part of Scott Enterprises' "Harbor Place" is also in the works.  Although, that project is still waiting on a CRIZ designation.

The Bayfront Cobblestone Inn is the first one of these hotels to be approved.  The ground breaking takes place Thursday at 11 a.m.
