Some big changes are coming to the Lake Erie Speedway for the 2015 season.
According to Lake Erie Speedway Vice President of Operations Branden Kaczay, the track will operate with a "special event only" format this year. We're told the changes are a result of unsuccessful attempts to finalize a sale to an undisclosed buyer.
Negotiations for the sale of the speedway have been ongoing for months with the respective buyer. Those talks have now stalled.
“Due to the prospective buyer's inability to execute the transaction, timing does not allow us the opportunity to put together the quality weekly racing program that our race teams and fans have come to expect and deserve as a part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and INEX,” said Don Prischak, Lake Erie Speedway's co-president. “This new format will open up additional Saturday night opportunities for the speedway.”
The first event is scheduled for May 30.
