A renovation project in the Girard School District is now at the halfway mark.

Construction continues at Rice Avenue Middle School, even though classes are still being held.  When work is finished on the second floor of the school in April, crews will begin renovations on the third floor.  The students will move accordingly.

The entire $19 million project should be completed in late September.

"There's no question it will be a challenge.  But, we have a great team here.  So, that's going to make life a lot easier.  We have very good contractors here," said Ron Meeder, Project Supervisor.

A portion of the school opened in 1926 was demolished and rebuilt. Another portion, opened in 1952, is being upgraded.
