Emergency agencies in Crawford County will soon have their own facility.

Crawford County Commissioners hosted a ground breaking ceremony Wednesday afternoon, for a new public safety building in Meadville.

The $3.4 million building will be built on county-owned land off of Pine Street next to Cora Clark Park.  Construction crews will also build a garage and communication tower.

As it stands right now, the Crawford County 911 dispatch center and other emergency services are crammed into the basement of the Crawford County Courthouse.

The new public safety facility will eventually house the dispatch center, the coroner's office, hazardous materials, and all other emergency services.

The project is expected to take one year to complete.
