As school districts wait for money from Harrisburg, there is a new issue looming for many schools across the state.

"There's a nationwide and statewide shortage of teachers,” said Dr. Alan Biel of Edinboro University.  “We're starting to feel it.”

Principals, superintendents and administrators are now working together to address this ongoing issue.

Today, they met for a teacher shortage summit at Edinboro University, to discuss solutions.

Dr. Biel, who is the dean of the schools of Education and Graduate Studies at Edinboro University, says that over the past few years, enrollment for Edinboro's teacher program has dropped by nearly 50 percent.

"We can't find teachers in specialty areas,” said Dr. Biel.  “We're starting to feel the pinch."

Edinboro University has created a task force that will now try to increase enrollment.
