Erie police are investigating a possible case of animal cruelty, after 13 dogs are removed from a west Erie home.

On Monday night, a total of eight pit bulls were taken from a home at 1047 West 28th Street.

On Tuesday evening, investigators served a warrant and recovered an additional five pit bulls from the home.  Several of the dogs suffer from broken bones and bite wounds.

Both the Humane Society of Northwestern PA and the A.N.N.A Shelter are involved in the investigation.  They are also working with the Erie County District Attorney's Office and the Erie Police Department to file charges against the owner.
