Democrat Kathy Fatica made it official Saturday that she is running for two more years on Erie County Council.

Council appointed Fatica to fill half of her husband Phil's term when he died unexpectedly in December 2015.

Surrounded by friends and supporters for a breakfast at the Ringside Restaurant, Fatica said she wants to continue to work for the priorities she shared with her husband. They include public health and safety, creating a good environment for growth in business and industry, and advocating partnerships across parties and governing entities countywide.

"Today, I am officially announcing my candidacy to complete the last two years of my husband's term," said Fatica. "I'm able to participate, not just with the leaders in Millcreek Township, but with the leaders and the constituents of all of Erie County, so that we can work in bipartisan partnership."

As of now, Fatica is the only democrat running for the seat.
