Erie attorney John Carlson is running for the district judge seat in Millcreek currently held by Paul Manzi.

Carlson made the announcement Saturday afternoon at the Ringside Restaurant.

He has a degree in business and finance from Gannon University and a law degree from Duquesne.

Carlson has been in private legal practice for the past 21 years, handling both criminal and civil cases.

Manzi's seat will be open at the end of 2017 when he retires.

"If there's one thing I've learned in my 21 years as a lawyer is how to listen to people's problems and make sound legal decisions," said Carlson. "That's exactly what a district court judge does."

Carlson is the fourth candidate to announce his intentions to seek the district judge seat in Millcreek.
