Another candidate is entering the race for Erie County Council.

Democrat Carl Anderson Thursday announced his bid for the 4th district seat.

Anderson is a former financial advisor and also a historical researcher and real estate agent.

In his announcement, Anderson laid out five key points that he says are important to Erie's future.

"Economic development, law enforcement, to make sure that we have affordable, accessible education," said Anderson. "I'm also going to be talking about issues about pride and the heritage in our community. I will be talking about issues important to the revitalization of the east side of Erie and the Belle Valley of Millcreek."

He will run against Democrat Tom Staszewski and Republican Paul Hirsch.

The seat is open because current Councilman Jay Breneman is running for Erie mayor.
