A long-time district judge is now suing the man who is set to replace him.

Judge Dominick DiPaolo has filed a lawsuit against Tim Beveridge for slander and defamation.

Beveridge recently defeated DiPaolo's daughter Dawn DiPaolo-Romeo in the November election.

Beveridge will replace Judge DiPaolo, who is retiring after serving 24 years in office.

According to the civil complaint, Judge DiPaolo and his daughter accuse Beveridge and his associates of making false and malicious statements about the DiPaolo family during their campaign.

The suit claims that the false statements have damaged the DiPaolo family's reputation and goodwill in the community.

DiPaolo and his family are now seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
