Two Employees at Erie Car Dealership Charged

The sales manager and title clerk at a west Erie car dealership face charges for falsifying paperwork.
Investigators said it happened at Luke's Automotive on West 26th Street between Nov. 1, 2017 and April 1, 2018.
Scott M. Bone, 49, who was identified as the sales manager, sold a vehicle Nov. 25 and failed to send the state sales tax, registration/title fees and title paperwork to PennDOT within the required amount of time, State Police said. It caused the vehicle owner's temporary registration to expire.
He also completed new sales paperwork March 21 with a false sales price and amount of fees collected and destroyed the original paperwork to try to conceal the original transaction and actual fees collected, according to investigators.
Bone is charged with forgery, deceptive business practices, theft, tampering with public records or information, misapplication of entrusted property and property of government or financial institution, altered plates or documents and multiple Board of Vehicle Act and Title 75 summary violations.
A title clerk falsely notarized a title for the sale of a car without the signor being present and verifying the signature for submission to PennDOT, according to State Police.
She is charged with altered, forged or counterfeit documents and plates and tampering with public records or information.
