Mercyhurst, Gannon Baseball Set To Begin PSAC Tournament Play
Two college baseball teams from Erie will be playing for a chance to claim the PSAC baseball Championship this week. Mercyhurst and Gannon clinched their respective spots in the 2018 PSAC Baseball Tournament.
Mercyhurst is the number one seed out of the Western Division after finishing with a 20-8 record in conference play this season. This is the fourth straight season that the Lakers earned the top seed out of the Western Division. This will be the 10th straight trip for Mercyhurst to the PSAC tournament. Mercyhurst finishes the season with a 31-11 record. The Lakers will begin postseason play on Wednesday, May 9. They will face off against Shippensburg, the four seed out of the Eastern Division. First pitch is set for 6:30.
Gannon makes their return to postseason play after missing the tournament last year. The Golden Knights of 2018 became just the second team in school history to reach the 30-win plateau, matching the 2016 team with 31 wins. Gannon draws the number two seed out of the east in Millersville. These two will square off Wednesday at 3:30.
All games for the PSAC tournament will take place at Point Park in Johnstown, PA.
