As temperatures get warmer, more kids will head outside to enjoy the weather and go bike riding.

With that comes some safety precautions to make sure each child does not get hurt.  That's why LECOM and PennDOT teamed up to teach kids all about bike safety Saturday.

The free event was held this year at Elk Valley Elementary School.

The goal is to get kids and adults involved in bicycling, provide education on safety requirements, and teach safe biking habits like always wearing a helmet.

Officials said ensuring a child has a helmet that fits properly is one of the easiest ways to reduce the risk of brain and head injuries.

More than 30 free bike helmets were also handed out.
