The Erie VA Medical Center is moving forward with its $30 million expansion project.

It hosted a townhall meeting Monday to provide an update on a number of projects.

For the past year and a half, crews have been busy building a brand new community living center.

The 22-room complex will house veterans, who currently live on the fourth and fifth floors of the medical center.

The VA also finished up most of the work on the hospital's new main entrance on East 38 St.

It must wait for PennDOT to install a new traffic light, which will not happen until October.

"These are wonderful events to have," saidDavid DiGiacomo, Erie VA Medical Center. "It's get feedback from our veterans. We have the people here. We have all our professionals in the room to engage and to provide helpful information to our veterans for them to utilize."

The community living center construction is expected to wrap up by the end of the year.
