The Brevillier Village retirement community in Harborcreek today began a major expansion and renovation project.

The ceremonial ground breaking was moved indoors because of bad weather.

Crews will add eight new private rooms and a new chapel to the Ball Pavilion nursing home.

The complex provides skilled care to 85 residents.

The $5 million project will also include converting seven semi-private rooms into private rooms.

Plus, renovations will be done to dining rooms, nursing stations and common areas.

And a big expansion is planned for the rehabilitation area.

Brevillier Village President-CEO Jeff Wieser said, "We definitely realize that our rehab area is undersized. So we are adding 1500 square feet to our rehab department. This is also going to give us the ability to break down our campus walls and provide more outpatient therapy services to the community."

The expansion and renovation project is expected to be done by late 2019.
