The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed an EF-2 tornado touched down in the Conneautville area Tuesday, damaging a nursing home.

The tornado was about 50 yards wide and contained winds of 115 mph. It touched down at 2:45 p.m. The NWS will determine how far it traveled on the ground Wednesday morning.

In a statement, Rolling Fields said the facility was hit directly by the tornado. Crawford County Public Safety said it caused damage to a villa and part of the main facility.

National Fuel has shut off gas to the facility.

Only two minor injuries were reported.

162 residents were taken to the Conneautville Volunteer Fire Department and Conneaut Valley Middle School.

Crawford County emergency officials said they are monitoring the situation.

Standing water and downed trees have been reported on various roadways. Crawford County Public Safety is encouraging residents to avoid travel unless necessary.

The NWS also plans to investigate potential tornado(s) from Centerville, PA to Townville, PA along Armstrong Rd. Wednesday.
