A large crowd gathered in downtown Erie early this evening to protest the rally by President Trump at Erie Insurance Arena.

Between 300-400 protesters stood on all four corners of 10th and State Streets .

Many of them carried signs or balloons as they chanted slogans.

The crowd included a wide range of people from Benedictine Nuns to Democratic Party supporters.

The majority of the protesters were women.

Many of them said they were angry about the recent confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Others said they came to protest the entire tone of the Trump administration.

Organizer Caitlyn Handerhan said, "I think this shows this is not Trump country. The media often likes to say this is Trump country. but the City of Erie did not vote for Trump."

There was some yelling between the protesters and Trump supporters heading to the arena, but no major problems were reported.
