It looks like the former Villa Maria Elementary School in Millcreek will be coming back to life.

Trustees of the Montessori Regional Charter School today  voted unanimously  to purchase the school from the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

Montessori will pay $3.5 million for 17 acres including the school that closed in 2017.

A closing on the purchase is expected in January.

The move will allow Montessori to consolidate all of its classes and offices at the Villa property.

Montessori currently leases space in old St. Andrew School in Erie, and owns a building  on Sterrettania Road in Millcreek.

That building will be put up for sale.

Trustees say some renovation work will be done at the Villa site, with classes expected to begin in the fall of 2019.
