PennDOT Gathers Public Input on Bayfront Parkway Improvement Ideas
A large contingent of PennDOT officials were in Erie today to gather input from the public. They want to hear comments on possible improvements to the Bayfront Parkway. The officials met with citizens at Emerson Gridley Elementary School from noon until 8 0’ clock.
Drawings of every alternative being considered for the Bayfront Parkway were on display. They involve the interchanges at Sassafras Street, State Street, and Holland Street.
PennDOT is looking at such things as installing roundabouts, having parkway traffic travel under State Street, and constructing pedestrian bridges over the parkway. But, no changes will be made without hearing from the public first.
Construction is not expected for a few years. PennDOT will host another open house, with the drawings, on December 11 at the Russian Orthodox Church at 109 German Street from noon to 8pm.
