Erie Philharmonic Introduces Virtual Reality Orchestra
The Erie Philharmonic is going high-tech by rolling out its virtual reality orchestra.
The unique project is inspired by the Philharmonia Orchestra in the U.K.
By putting on an Oculus Rift headset and headphones, you can get a 360-degree view of what it is actually like to be on stage with the orchestra.
They plan to add more interactive experiences.
Multiple community partners helped the Erie Philharmonic bring the idea to life. Technical expertise came from Mega Media Factory, Whitethorn Digital and the Erie Innovation District. There was financial support from the Erie Community Foundation, Erie Arts and Culture and the Black Family Foundation.
Concertgoers will be able to try out the virtual orchestra at the next Erie Philharmonic concert Jan. 26.
