Erie News Now has learned the private, skilled trades training facility Triangle Tech is struggling to attract new students in Erie.

The facility, which trains students in careers like maintenance electricity and construction technology, at one time had as many as 300 students. It's now down to seven.

We reached out to President Tim McMahon, who said they have not yet made a decision to close, but he admitted they are at a tipping point and have been forced to lay off faculty.

Triangle Tech will see its current students through to completion of their associate degrees.

The Erie location, which opened in 1976, is the second of six locations. It is based in Pittsburgh.
