Presque Isle Lifeguards Gifted With Potential Life-Saving Tool
A potential life-saving gift is now in the hands of the Presque Isle Lifeguard Association.
A new, Yamaha jet-ski was presented to the lifeguards at Beach 8.
The $13,000 gift that can carry three people at a time, comes from Allegheny Health Network and Saint Vincent Hospital.
Dr. Chris Clark is the President of AHN, St. Vincent. He says, "This is something that they (lifeguards) had on a list of things. They were looking for support and we jumped on this opportunity."
The presentation of the jet ski highlights a partnership between the AHN Prehospital Care Services," and the Lifeguard Association. It includes classes to help the capabilities of park employees, trained to provide care to park visitors.
President of the Presque Isle Lifeguard Association, Jim Vieira, says, "It (the jet ski) cuts the response time significantly, especially on weekends when traffic can be high, it's tough to get emergency response vehicles through traffic where as jet skis can launch and cut through quite easily."
